District Leadership Team

Under the direction of the District Superintendent, by approval of the DBA, and in conjunction with the district office staff, the following individuals  will work together to oversee and carry out the functions, goals and missions of the NC West District.

 

District Superintendent - Rev. Jerry Lumston

 

Jerry serves as DS of the NC West District of The Wesleyan Church and has served in that role for fifteen years.   He is the spiritual and administrative leader of the district.   Jerry provides vision, administration, and compassion as he assists pastors, leadership, staff and lay members  to lead the lost to Christ.  Jerry is a native to the beautiful NC mountains. He and  his wife Jean Ellen have three married daughters and six grandchildren.

 


Assistant District Superintendent - Rev. Todd Reynolds


Todd is currently serving as Senior Pastor at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church and Assistant District Superintendent.  His district responsibilities now include leading the District Board of Ministerial Development and providing oversight to the Annual District Conference planning.  He is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan College.  He and his wife Michelle  have been married since 1993. They have one son, Andrew. He is a Krispy Kreme Connoiseur.


District Administrator - Nancy Mills

 

Nancy has served as District Administrator for  thirteen years pursuant to a corporate career in project management.  Her responsibilities include serving  district officers, leaders, pastors,  congregants, as well as headquarters, with administrative responsibilities .  Her duties include also maintaining all legal documents , historical information, reporting, and statistical  information for the district.  Nancy is a Wesleyan "PK" and a lifelong Wesleyan. She and her husband Terry are members of Shady Grove Wesleyan. They have  two adult daughters, one  a  head college softball coach and the other a Wesleyan Pastor serving with her husband in the US Army.

 

Next Gen Leadership Development - Rev. Josh Dawalt


Josh  is the Lead Pastor atNew Covenant in Pleasant Garden, NC.  He has served in that role since November 0f 2012. He graduated from Southern Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Christian Ministries. He has served on the Evangelism and Church Growth Committee in the NC West District for the last 3 years. He and his wife Keisha have 2 daughters, Addison and Jordyn. 

Pastor Josh's role as Next Gen Leadership Development will be a cross-ministry function, working together with Pastor Matt (Ministry Student Mobilizer/Mentor ),  ADS Reynolds and Rev. Tom Raven (Church Multiplication Director) to recruit,  lead, train,  and mentor  the next generation of pastors and leaders within our district.  


Church Multiplication Director - Rev. Tom Raven


As Church Miltiplication Director, Pastor Tom will be also be cross functioning  with other ministry leaders to recruit and develop church planters. He will also be working with individual churches to construct new ministry pathways for  starting new plants.  Tom will also be meeting with college students and Next Gen  Leaders, in all areas of vocation, to whom God may be calling to church planting.   Tom serves as the Senior Pastor of Wendover Hills in Jamestown, NC. He and his wife, Sherri have  3 children.

Hispanic Ministry Director - Rev. Jose Minoso


Pastor Jose serves first and foremost as lead Pasotor of Crist Vive in Elkin, NC.  Pastor Jose and his wife Pastor Julie serve key roles within their church and the Hispanic Ministry.  Pastor Jose provides organization, oversight, planning and leadership for NC West Hispanic Churches. Together with the team, they plan education, training, recruiting events for church planters and prayerful dedication to God's direction for our district.  Pastor Jose will also work with individual pastors and churches as needs arrive for guidance, planning and instruction. 

Hispanic Ministry - Multiplication Leader - Rev. Nestor Gudino

 

Nestor, with his wife Keila are church planters of La Roca, a multisite church in the Triad area.  La Roca sets trends and innovations in the Hispanic Church throughout  the country.  Nestor, originally from Argentina, discovered only a few years ago, the power of multiplication.  Therefore, he provides motivation and training to church leaders, pastors and planters who wish to see disciples and churches multiply in the Hispanic community.

Hispanic Ministry - Discipleship Leader - Rev. Oscar Nunez


Oscar and his wife Andrea, serves as the pastor of  Luz a Las Naciones (Light to the Nations)  in Hendersonville and Forest City, NC.   Oscar will be working with the Hispanic Ministries and Pastors in the area of Discipleship. He will be developing discipleship training opportunities but most of all helping  Christians to understand that discipleship is not just for new believers - it is for your entire life.

Pastoral Care Coordinator - Rev. Richard Loman


Pastor Richard served the NC West District as Senior Pastor at Mt. Airy Wesleyan for fifteen and one half years before retiring. After his retirement at the end of 2015, he has served as an iterim Pastor at Winston Salem First, Gastonia First and Liberty Harmony. He is currently on staff at Mt. Airy Wesleyan as Visitation Pastor. He is married to the former Tammy Mahaley and they have three sons and three grandchildren.

As Pastoral Care Coordinator, at the direction of DS Lumston, Richard will maintain contact with and care for our retired ministers and spouses of deceased ministers, especially those who have health crisises or during times of bereavement.  

Children's Ministry Coordinator - Rev. Kaylee Wilkerson


Kaylee is the Children's Pastor at New Covenant Church and she has served there for 5 years. Before stepping into this role, she also served as our District Kids Camp Director.  Children's Ministry is her heartbeat and she loves watching children fall in love with Jesus and start a foundational relationship with Him. She is married to Jonathan and they have a one daughter, Charlotte.  As Children's Ministry Coordinator, Kaylee's responsibilities will be to oversee the organization, planning and implementation of camps, training and mentoring of children's ministries and leaders throughout the district.

Student Ministries Coordinator - Rev. Jonathan Wilkerson

 

Jonathan is the Youth Pastor at New Covenant Church in Pleasant Garden, NC. He loves watching Clemson Football with his wife Kaylee and daughter, Charlotte.  As Student Ministries Coordinator,  Jonathan will provide leadership for Youth Pastors, planning and implementing camps and events, mentoring for start-up Youth Ministries in our district churches, work with the Next Gen Director and Church Multiplication Director to maintain the FOTC group  (Fellowship of The Called).

District Property Manager - Rev. Harold Bumby, II


As District Property Manager, Harold will be working in conjunction with DS Lumston, the DBA,  the District Building and NC West District Churches to manage improvements  to developing churches, verify that insurance is being maintained on all developing churches as well as organizing work teams as necessary  to assist with  local projects and improvements.

       Pastor Harold  serves as Lead Pastor of Providence Wesleyan in High Point, NC. He and his wife , Sara, have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren.
